A novelist and a model get dragged into an adventure looking for a hidden treasure.
This is a silly adventure film but it lacks any sense of story-telling so it just feels dull and tedious.
The actors say the words needed to progress the plot but there is no real sense of characterisation or chemistry - just people talking.
Everything is bare minimum.
Even the sets are bad.
We enter the jungle so we get shots of a bunch of trees.
Is the jungle dark and mysterious? Is it filled with swarms of insects or dangerous animals? Is it tranquil and beautiful?
No, its just a bunch of trees that Sandra and Channing can run around so that is enough.
There are some great moments (especially with Brad Pitt) and the main characters have great potential - with snippets of insight.
But on the whole it doesn't feel like anyone cares about this.
I love Sandra Bullock but she doesn't bring any of her talent or energy to this. I didn't buy she was an author, an academic or a widow - she is just there goofing around.
About a quarter of the cast can just be cut along with all their scenes and the film would be better for it.
There are a lot of dad-jokes and obligatory embarrassment gags "oh gosh! I can see your penis" or "oh no! My dress is up my bum!" which is probably funny if you are about ten.
I was really hoping for another Jumanji or Jungle Cruise but instead got a very long made-for-TV movie that is already fading from my memory.
