Reviews

You reap what you ....sew.

A very decent will keep you watching to the end not horror but suspense thriller. A children's fashion designer at the top of her game suffers a mental break after recieiving a phone call while on set and the story fast forwards to where she is no longer able work as a designer because of her mental condition until she's gets a knock on her door from a very petite Philippino woman who shows up to help her get better, as so you would think. While staying in the home certain things about the Philippino woman unravels and things begin to slowly but surely unfold as to why she came to find her way there with that family. Cut aways of the past events that lead up to a finale and glimpse of startling images keep the story errie enough to hold your attention to the very end. Nothing gory, vulgar or graphic. It's a decent one time watch. Everything kinda makes sense.

It is utter garbage

Don't waste your time watching this. I wasted an hour and a half of my life that I will not get back. It is complete rubbish with a so-called supernatural plot. Bad acting and a totally unbelievable plot - I was begging for it to end and finish the torture. I feel sorry for Mark Strong who I rate highly. He is in much better films and a better actor than this garbage. As for Eva Green a cardboard cutout would have been an improvement. Who an earth at Netflix thought this was a good film? I can only guess thatt it was a very low budget film as there seemed to only be three characters in it. Please avoid it.

Nocebo

Eva Green is a top of the range children's fashion designer suffering from a bizarre psychological complaint that flummoxes doctors. Into her life comes Chai Fonacier, a shaman from the Philippines who manages to improve Green's health immeasurably. Her husband, played by Mark Strong is not so sure neither is her feisty young daughter.

Strong performances all around make for an interesting and rather different horror / thriller which features a good deal of icky, though sometimes unconvincing, effects. Overall though this is a fascinating effort which gets you about 20 minutes from the end and then spells out quite disturbingly, which is actually quite hard to watch in places, exactly what's going on and why Green is ill and why Fonacier is there - quite chilling.
